Antiquorum Geneva has this extremely rare Rolex Submariner 5513 with an Explorer dial up for sale. As you all Rolex aficionados know, a special feature on Explorer dial is its Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9 o’clock positions, this Submariner has the same as you can see from the image. A couple of other rare features also appear on the dial, a lower underline, and the double t<25 at the bottom of the dial.
Antiquorum believes, this Explorer with the 5513 Submariner dial version is just the third watch ever to appear on the open market for sale. Rolex has made this type of dials from early 60’s through late 80’s with many different variations that included gilt dials, matte dials, glossy dials, underlines, and explorer dials.
Made in 1964, this well looked after fine watch comes in a 40 mm stainless case with a stainless steel Rolex bracelet with deployant clasp. Its black dial features original luminous steel skeleton hour and minute hands, a center seconds hand, baton and triangular indexes and an hour and minute outer ring. Powered by a self-winding movement, it is water resistant to 660 feet.
Because this is a rare 5513 and in excellent condition except for few minor scratches, it has a pre-auction estimate between $91,000 and $114,000.
