UK’s high street label Marks & Spencer unveiled its advertising campaign for the autumn 2013 collections.
Marks & Spencer gathered a magnificently talented group of British women for the campaign. Leading the campaign line-up is Oscar-winner Helen Mirren. Others include former Principal Ballerina at the Royal Ballet – Darcey Bussell, Brit-Art legend Tracey Emin, US Vogue’s creative director Grace Coddington, fellow red-head fashionista and supermodel Karen Elson, and musician Ellie Goulding. Non-creative industries are represented by public sector personalities, including Jasmine Whitbread, the CEO of Save the Children International, and 2011 Nurse of the Year Helen Allen.
Campaign photo shoot is done by famed photographer Annie Leibovitz, who of course is not British. Speaking about the campaign, Marks & Spencer’s Patrick Bousquet-Chavanne said “Annie was the perfect choice to shoot a campaign of this magnitude. Her unmistakable, signature style, with its truly dramatic aesthetic, was exactly what we needed to communicate the essence of the campaign and of the new Marks and Spencer.” He further added, “We wanted this campaign to signal a new and confident tone of voice to introduce autumn.”
Hannah Teare of Harper’s Bazaar and Tatler contributed her expertise in the fashion and styling. Marks & Spencer flagship stores in Paris, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Gurgaon, Dubai, Istanbul, Moscow, Prague, Singapore, and Amsterdam will have the honor of displaying images starting September 3rd.
