Three of Bulgari’s iconic codes are getting a fresh look for their handbag collections from fresh eyes. The Italian fashion invited three fashion graduates from London’s design school, Central Saint Martin, to work with them on a special project. So far it has been a success, for both the up and coming designers and the brand. The graduates meshed their creative minds with Bulgari design DNA and traditions for a new take on Monete, Serpenti and Bvlgari Bvlgari handbags for the “self-confident woman”.
Three graduates came three different disciplines of Fashion Program subjects at CSM. Anita Hirlekar studied MA Fashion, while Natasha Somerville is a BA Fashion alumna. Connie Lim graduated from BA Fashion Design with Marketing.
The project that lasted six week included a trip to brand’s workshop in Florence, Italy. There they learned from and worked with experienced artisans to create 3D prototypes of their designs. As it turned out their designs and creations are pretty impressive, that instead of one winner LVMH-owned brand chose designs of both Natasha and Connie as winners. Bulgari plans to use Connie’s design (top image) as part of 40 year anniversary celebrations of the iconic Bvlgari Bvlgari code.
