One of the original supermodels, Claudia Schiffer has teamed up with her home country’s premier eyewear maker Rodenstock to create a 15 piece line of eyewear bearing her name. The Claudia Schiffer by Rodenstock line with seven sunglasses and eight opticals will go on sale worldwide in 2014. All styles will be seventies inspired, Claudia’s favorite fashion decade. Maybe we’ll see few Jackie O sunglasses.
For the now retired 43-year old mother of three, this is her second high-profile business venture with a German company. In 2011 she entered into a business partnership with cashmere brand Iris von Arnim, they went on to be a hit with Net-A-Porter.com.
Speaking to WWD Schiffer said “Sunglasses are an essential part of my wardrobe. After years of wearing so many styles, I wanted to create a collection of great frames where the quality of the lens is equally as important as the style.” Schiffer added “I grew up with Rodenstock being the pinnacle of quality in sunglasses and lenses. They are the perfect partner, and I can’t wait for the world to see why I chose them.”
