Designers Join Hands With UNICEF, Creates Haute Dolls For Charity

Designer Dolls For UNICEFThe 11th edition of The Frimousses de Créateurs is underway in Paris. This year’s edition pays tribute to the City of Lights with the theme “The Paris Wonderful”. A total of 93 Les Frimousses (ie. little faces) are up for auction after the exhibition ends on December 1st. Some of the 42 participating haute brands include Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Gucci, Dior, Issey Miyake, Chantal Thomass and Missoni.

Initiated by UNICEF, the designer doll exhibition and auction will raise funds to help vaccinate children in Sudan’s Darfur region. Additionally through the exhibition, UNICEF try to create awareness and mobilize general public to the rights and protection of children in troubled regions.

Curated by artist Frédéric Fontan, exhibition is held at Petite Palais in Paris from November 26th to December 1st, and the auction on December 2nd at the Four Seasons Hotel Georges V. UNICEF is expectant of  raising more than last year’s amount of €200,000 ($271,000) this year.

Missoni chose Amélie Poulain from the movie Amélie to pay tribute to Paris. Angela Missoni notes Amélie is the “symbolic figure of Paris for its fabulous beauty and love for passion.” Amélie doll is fashionably dressed in a turtle-neck top with a red brooch, bright red skirt, black shoes and carrying a stylish gold-colored handbag in the shape of Eiffel Tower.

Chantal Thomass, the Parisian lingerie designer has dressed up her local landmark in pink and black. The doll named Paris was born in Paris on June 17, 2013. Dressed in metal garters, pink silk taffeta bows and black satin ribbons, stylish Paris is more than capable of standing on her own four feet.

Charlotte was crafted in cotton, wool and felt in June 2013. She is dressed in a cotton jersey with a heart and the Eiffel Tower, pair of heart printed silk pants, gold shoes and a leather handbag full of hearts.
