Last week LVMH put fashionistas on notice with their new business strategy for Louis Vuitton with premium pricing and premium leathers. This week they back up new strategy with the release of Louis Vuitton Alma Bag in Taurillon Leather. An iconic bag, whether in canvas or leather, the dome shaped Alma has been a Louis Vuitton staple for ages. A very distinct and recognizable bag with its dome shape, long zipper opening and short handles.
In the past Alma has been made in monogram canvas, vernis leather and in Epi leather with monogram embossed at the lower front corner. For the new large-grain Taurillon Alma bag, there won’t be a large logo, just Louis Vuitton Paris embossed between the handles. The Alma is part of the Louis Vuitton all classic leather Parnasséa Collection, which also includes Capucines bags and the Sofia Coppola satchel.
Simple, elegant and functional, Alma Bag MM interior features a zipped pocket, two flat pockets and suede calf leather lining. Exterior features a two-way zipper with padlock for security, slim Toron handles and a leather loop. Other features include cowhide leather trims, shiny brass hardware in silver or gold and bottom studs. The roomy Alma in Taurillon Leather also available in petite PM and mini PPM sizes and both feature a removable strap for a crossbody or a shoulder carry. The Alma bag is available in many attractive colors.
Priced in line with what is expected for a sophisticated leather bag, large MM is priced at $4,450, while petite PM and mini PPM are priced at $3,850 and $3,250 respectively. Available online at louisvuitton.com and in stores.
