Britain’s current “It Girl” Cara Delevingne and fashion house Mulberry has collaborated to give us the all new Mulberry Cara Delevingne Collection. The collection launched today at Claridge’s in London features six handbags. As Mulberry noted the idea for the Mulberry Cara Delevingne Collection occurred while shooting the Spring Summer 2014 campaign in English country side. During lunch break one day Cara spoke about designing and creating a handbag. After this conversation Mulberry invited Cara to their London headquarters for a little chat about her design idea. And the rest as they say is history.
Delevingne worked with Mulberry designers from the beginning of the project. She was at hand to select leathers, to sketch ideas and give customers perspective of a practical handbag. She was also instrumental in selecting hardware. The collection is Available in three sizes in a three-in-one style. A versatile collection, bags can be used to dress up or down. It can be hand-held for an elegant evening outing, it can be carry on shoulder for work or as a casual bag it can be worn on the back.
Giving the bags a little bit of Cara touch, they come with a small lion rivet and a heart shape patch inside, based on Cara’s heart tattoo. About little hidden treasures Cara says “I wanted there to be hidden gems inside, based on things that are personal to me, which my tattoos definitely are.”
Giving British industries a boost, the collection is entirely made in England at Mulberry’s Somerset workshop with the help of 700 local craftsmen and craftswomen. As a tribute to Cara’s “Made in England” tattoo on the bottom of her foot, all bags in the Mulberry Cara Delevingne Collection come with Made in England stamped on the bottom of each bag.
