With their Spring/Summer 2015 MIME Collection, Italian fashion house Valentino is paying homage to the young explorers of the 18th century. Following tradition, young and cultured European men from upper class wealthy families embarked on an educational tour named Grand Tour to explore art, philosophy and traditions of Italy. Sort of like UK’s upper class young men and women taking a gap year to travel the world these days . Prints on the collection feature exquisite detail from 18th century Italy, that the young men from the North came to see.
The MIME Collection, a creation of Maria Chiuri and Pieraolo Piccioli feature five distinct patterns – Blossom, Leaf, Flower Eyes, Arabesque and Flower Dot printed on lightweight fabrics. The artwork has a distinct antique vibe to it and designs used either as a single print or patchwork of all prints. The floral printed patchwork leather with its colorful presentation makes MIME one of the top collections of the season.
Main feature of the MIME bag collection is its printed leather patchwork. The leather panels are first digitally printed and the designs are then combined together in a patchwork, so each bag has a different patchwork design. Same is true for the shoe collection, there are no two similar pairs or styles, thanks to different prints used for every component. And they also have matching MIME scarfs.
