The circus is coming to town – to Hong Kong, by way of a delicious afternoon tea, courtesy of Tosca and Alessi. Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong’s popular Italian restaurant Tosca teamed up with Italy’s housewares company Alessi for a special edition tableware collection designed by Marcel Wanders – the Alessi Circus. The colorful collection will be the centerpiece of magical CIRCO DI TOSCA Afternoon Tea With Alessi that Tosca plans to serve up on Saturday afternoons from July 1 to August 31, 2017.
Do you want rhomboidal shapes on housewares? You’ve got that along with circular, striped and pointed geometric shapes and patterns- all standard in the world of circus. The vibrant and cheery circus colors follow the collection with everything painted in white, black, yellow, red, gold and silver. What’s the point of having a circus-themed afternoon tea without a magician and an elephant doing a few tricks? A silver-plated elephant arrives at guest tables on a red and white carousel with savories, and to spice things up Tosca has hired a professional magician to perform astonishing tricks.
The menu from Tosca’s press release: “Served fresh out of the oven, Cuscini summons up authentic tastes of Italy on one plate with fried pizza, ricotta cheese, and Parma ham. Cerchi stirs the taste buds with a crunchy spaghetti roll filled with refreshing arrabbiata tomato. More than what its name suggests, Hot Dog is a refined version enhanced with chicken sausage, mozzarella, and black truffle. Anelli, a tempting assortment of doughnuts dressed in colorful chocolate sauce and condiments, is sure to catch one’s attention at first sight. The delectable snack trio – Popcorn, Nuvole, and Mandorle e sabbia, featuring popcorn with chocolate cake, cotton candy, and crispy almonds, respectively, is the must-have item to best enjoy a circus show.”
The eye catching and mouth watering menu for the CIRCO DI TOSCA Afternoon Tea With Alessi were designed by Chef Pino Lavarra and his team. Reservations must be made two weeks in advance, for inquiries email [email protected]. Price – HK$390 ($50) per person.
