Ongoing 12th edition of the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) fair in Miami is one of the best places to find new and unknown talents from the creative world. Yet another collaboration with a street artist means, another trendy yet quirky Beats Pill in special edition. Beats by Dr. Dre partnered with San Francisco-based artist Barry McGee to create a distinct version of one of McGee’s signature cartoon characters – the pot smoking urban man.
Barry McGee focuses on creating street art based on “weed culture”, a subject that always fascinated him. Says McGee “I wanted to develop a contemporary ‘Zig-Zag man’ type character or mascot that speaks to that culture but that would also appeal to the masses. Something that operated like the brand Junk Food.”
The limited edition Beats Pill by Barry McGee as with other Beats Pills a wireless portable speaker also very light on weight. Available till Sunday 7 December, McGee will be at hand to sign speakers today at the Deauville Beach Resort in the afternoon. McGee even has couple of music recommendations for the Pill bearing his name – his picks are Cass McCombs, Russian Tsarlag, Peggy Honeywell and the Aislers Set.
