If the 90-year-old Queen wants to exchange her old luxury Bentley for a high-speed model, there is a new speedy Bentley in the market. British luxury automaker Bentley unveiled the world’s fastest four-seater model to date: the New Bentley Continental Supersports. It is so fast, it has a top speed of 209mph (336kmh) and it can go from 0-60mph in just 3.4 seconds (0-100 kmh in 3.5 seconds).
Power for Continental Supersports come from the re-developed W12 engine that has a new high-performance turbos and engine hardware, and a torque vectoring system creates a Continental Supersports as agile as it is powerful. The car also received new styling inside and outside, which not only help improve aesthetics but performance as well. Improved torque performance now stands at 1,017 Nm (750 lb. ft.), the Supersports helped by its torque converter can accelerate from standstill even more quickly. The Supersports is fitted with carbon ceramic brakes with enhanced cooling. These long lasting brakes encounter less wear and tear even under extreme conditions, all thanks to their brake discs, said to be the largest of their type in the world.
Wolfgang Dürheimer, chairman and chief executive of Bentley Motors, said: “The Supersports name is legendary at Bentley. From the very first Supersports of the 1920s, to the Continental Supersports of 2009 – and now with the third iteration of this iconic model – it is a name which excites, impassions and thrills. Only Bentley could create a car which blends immense performance and unrivalled luxury in this way.”
The new model comes with lots of improvements on the outside – clean and neat lines. Some of the exterior improvements include newly designed front and rear bumpers with carbon fiber splitter and diffuser and new side sill extensions and bonnet vents that also feature carbon fiber. There are two items in gloss-black – front wing vents and rifled exhaust tailpipe. Giving finishing touches to the exteriors are dark-tint headlamps and tail-lamps, a complement of black-finished brightware to the front grilles, lights, rear bumper, door handles, and window surrounds. Bentley also offers an optional package for exteriors for those who want to add more bells and whistles.
Interiors feature a new tri-color combination and a new diamond-quilted design in seats and door side panels covered in a signature Alcantara. Inside, a host of other bespoke styling details enhances the contemporary British luxury experience. They have also added the chequered Supersports carbon-fibre fascia panels to the existing list of ten veneers and technical finishes. Alcantara is the favored accent, they appear on the bespoke Supersports steering wheel and unique gearlever. The interior is completed by new Supersports emblem stitching.
They have also introduced a matching new rooftop version, the Bentley Continental Supersports Convertible. It comes with a 205mph top speed and a sprint to 60mph in 3.7 seconds (0-100 kmh in 3.9 seconds). The Convertible updates include a state-of-the-art retractable top that opens at the touch of a button. It can hold its own in all conditions from -30°C to +50°C or more and capable of holding off strong winds and rain to keep interiors warm. The neck warmer is a special feature added to enhance comfort when driving with the top down.
The Continental Supersports and the convertible have their own optional personalization package named the “X Specification”. It consists of eight unique duo-tone paint treatments and carbon-fibre door mirrors and heel plates. The titanium exhaust option is included, as is a carbon-fibre finish to the interior side panels, the carbon-fibre engine cover and a gloss black finish to the 21” forged wheels.
