Let’s get straight to the point – this is the most sophisticated Abarth. Ever. As a huge Fiat 500 and other city car fan, I just love this new limited edition Abarth. Named, Fiat 500 Abarth 695 Rivale, this special edition celebrates 175 years of Riva – the high-end Italian yacht and boat manufacturer. Riva has been making luxury watercraft since 1842, and Fiat has been making land vehicles 1899 and Abarth since 1949 – that is a lot of history in one car. To celebrate their common bonds in Italian heritage, technology, and style, they partnered to design and create these special editions – a yacht – Riva 56 Rivale and a matching car – 695 Rivale.
We are only going to take a look only at the Abarth 695 Rivale. The shiny Shark Gray paint takes after the asphalt road while interiors the Riva Sera Blue – the skies and an aquamarine water line represents the sea – according to Fiat, this represents where the sky meets the road and also separates them. Other outside highlights include 17-inch diameter Supersport aluminum wheels, Satin chrome door handles, and tailgate molding, and anniversary badges. There is also a metal hatch plate to match same on the yacht.
There is a two-color combination on the inside. The seats and door panels are covered in blue leather, while carbon fiber covers the dashboard and part of the steering wheel and gear shift. Options offered include real mahogany instead of carbon fiber, a choice between black or blue leather for steering wheel and dashboard and mahogany for gear lever and kick plate. Buyers can ask for customized hand-written number plates to match their yachts (if they won one). The 7-inch HD Uconnect Radio system compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and offer a slew of features from maps to music to calls to sending messages via touch and integrated voice controls.
Fiat 500 Abarth 695 Rivale is powered by a 1.4-liter T-JET 4 in-line cylinder engine with a Garrett turbocharger. It provides 180hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. It has a horsepower to weight ratio of 12.8 pounds per horsepower, which helps 695 Rivale to go from zero-62 in just 6.7 seconds, and a top speed of 140 mph. This is available in either a five-speed manual transmission or five-speed sequential transmission.
They’ve done everything they could to improve the performance with Brembo brakes with 4-piston fixed calipers in the front, and a Koni suspension with Frequency-Selective Damping. Good news for sound enthusiasts as it comes with an Akrapovič exhaust system with carbon tail pipes.
The 175th Riva anniversary edition Fiat 500 Abarth 695 Rivale is a limited edition of 350 examples – 175 coupes and 175 convertibles. To order yours or to find more information visit Abarth.
