As much as we love our kids and want to give them all the best things that is out there, this is not a gift every parent can afford. This “thing”, a half-scaled replica of a 1907 Silver Ghost AX201 was made by none-other-than British automaker Rolls-Royce at their plant in the UK. To put things into perspective, the full-size vintage model carry a price tag of £30 million (around $50 million.) Also back in 1920’s, the original Silver Ghost won Rolls-Royce the “best car in the world” title. Not to be out done by the full-size model, the miniature also features “Spirit of Ecstasy” mascot for its tiny aluminium hood. Its body is constructed on a steel chassis with aluminium and wood wrapped around it.
Even though this is a scaled miniature, it comes with some of the functions of the proper car. It has an accelerator and brake, rack-and-pinion steering, spoked wheels, fully working headlights, a hand brake, bulb horn and black leatherette interior. Powered by a 24-volt transaxle electric motor, it can be motored around at 8 mph top speed – reverse and forward. However, this is not a toy just for kids. It has a removable front seat, and that means fun loving adults can fit in the car as well to take it for a spin. Couple of weekends ago auction house Bonhams sold it for $25,000 during their Goodwood Revival Sale.
