Koenigsegg Regera To Reign As The King Of The Open Road And At Geneva Motor Show

Koenigsegg Regera

Hypercar-maker Koenigsegg knows how to bring a crowd to a standstill. With their latest creation, the Koenigsegg Regera, Swedish automaker is introducing a new category to the world of luxury fast cars – the Megacar. In Swedish, Regera means “to Reign” – the company hopes this will reign as the king of the open road with its power, responsiveness, and luxury.

The Megacar power comes from a combination of power suppliers – a twin-turbo V8 combustion engine with three electric motors and cutting edge battery power via new powertrain technology called Koenigsegg Direct Drive – this produces a combined 1500hp. The KDD technology helped remove the traditional gearbox, and thereby making the Regera lighter and more efficient.

As with all other cars made by Koenigsegg, this too offers plenty of comfort, speed, and an unforgettable driving experience. It takes just 3.2 seconds to go from 150 to 250 km/h, and from 0 to 400 – in 20 seconds – made possible by its light weight,1500hp hybrid power and a lot of torque. The company is not shy about their achievements – they really believe only one of their other models can go faster than this around a circuit.

As you already know Koenigsegg handcraft all their cars at their production facility in Ängelholm, Sweden. For the first time ever, the factory is working on two different models at the same time – a huge deal for an independent automaker. The Koenigsegg Regera is a limited edition of 80 vehicles. Right now, they are showcasing a bespoke sea-green Regera at the Geneva Motor Show.
