I love Fiats of all models and colors. The 500 model of the popular Italian city car is turning 60 this year, and that call for a big celebration with a special edition. Fiat already has one ready and they are launching it at the Geneva Motor Show this week. Aptly named the Fiat 500 Sessantesimo, in Italian it means “sixtieth”, it will be a limited edition of just 560 (500+60) examples. Fiat also announced the convertible only Sessantesimo will go on sale in EMEA countries (Europe, the Middle East, and Africa) from March 9 with deliveries expected from July 4.
The inside features some of Fiat’s iconic retro details such as the tube-shaped seat padding in ivory leather with contrasting burgundy seams, matching central dashboard and dual color car mats. Lots of cool technology for both comfort and entertainment incorporated into the car as well. They include everything from a leather gear stick knob and steering wheel with built-in commands to the 7″ UconnectTM Radio Live touchscreen system with Bluetooth, satellite navigator and USB and AUX IN ports; 7″ TFT, automatic climate control, fog lights and rear parking sensors.
Outside, the Fiat 500 Sessantesimo features a two-tone paint combination named Dolcevita that consists of a three-layer white for the lower body and pastel ivory for the hood and pillars. There are also a number of other exterior aesthetic details including a gray and burgundy waistrail, chrome side mirror caps, dedicated ‘560’ logo, exclusive badge on the pillars, numbered limited edition nameplate, and 16″ alloys, with a unique pattern.
It also sports current year innovations such as optional Speed Limiter and Cruise Control and the CarPlay and Android AutoTM system to connect smartphones and access main applications directly on the 7″ screen of the UconnectTM system. Both the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also supported. Other bells and whistles include are the Beats Audio system, tinted rear windows, bi-xenon headlights, and rain & dusk sensors.
A selection of different engine options is offered for the 500 Sessantesimo including two petrol engines fitted with robotic Dualogic gearbox and semi-automatic transmissions that offer 1.2 with 69 HP and the 0.9 TwinAir with 85 HP respectively. There is also a diesel engine option with the turbodiesel 1.3 16v Multijet II 95 HP.
There is no word on pricing for the Euro-specific Limited Edition Fiat 500 Sessantesimo.
