Rolls-Royce Dawn Black Badge Tries To Attract Millennials With 593 Horsepower

Millennials are the most prized market segment for any brand right in the world – luxury or otherwise. In March 2016, Rolls-Royce unveiled a special bespoke unit of cars named Black Badge – just to cater to lifestyles of their younger, more dynamic patrons of luxury automobiles. After the great success of Ghost Black Badge and Wraith Black Badge versions, the automaker is set to debut the latest version of the line at 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed – the open-top Dawn Black Badge.

The outside of the Dawn Black Badge follows the same design attributes as Ghost and Wraith Black Badge versions. Its exterior is covered with several coats of dark black paint and lacquer, and hand polished to get its final shine. Other black finished areas include the “Silent Ballet” roof and the rear deck in black leather.

Rolls-Royce also replaced the iconic “Spirit of Ecstasy” chrome hood ornament with a high-gloss black chrome. Black Badge means Black Badge here – there is more dark finishes around the grille, rear trunk lid, and exhaust pipe. The outside is completed by the inverted Double R – silver on black.

Most of the interiors feature carbon fiber woven together with 0.014m threads of aircraft grade aluminum. This too features finishes in six coats of lacquer, which was dried for 72-hours before installing in the Dawn Black Badge. The seats are covered in black leather with a splash of Mandarin orange to add color.

Finally, this is how you describe an engine that produces 593 horsepower and 620 lb-ft of torque: “Behind the wheel, the intensity is intoxicating. Instinct and impulse duel with confidence and control. The drama of the Rolls-Royce top-down drive is pushed to unprecedented levels with an optional sports exhaust. Dawn Black Badge’s 6.6-liter V12 twin-turbo engine offers seemingly infinite power, while enhanced torque and suspension deliver a more enthralling driving experience. The night is yours. The thrill is in the journey. The unlit future is in your hands.”
