This little thing must be the cutest food truck in the world. Make that the cutest food mini-car in the world. There really is a full kitchen hiding in the back of this concept car from Daimler. Unveiled last week at the Bologna Motor Show, the Smart Forfood concept is a collaboration between Daimler, Italian coffee brand Lavazza and their mutual brand ambassador, Michelin-starred chef Davide Oldani.
This will be a useful tool for small catering businesses or those who offer bespoke services for 2-6 diners. The Smart Forfood is based on Daimler’s popular Smart Fortwo city car and features a mobile kitchen and the latest cappuccino machine from Lavazza. Small equipment supplied by Focaccia Group include an induction cooktop, juicer, fridge, refrigerated bottle rack, cutlery, and plates.
Exteriors are mostly white except for the back where a grayscale tablecloth plaid pattern is aptly used to highlight the food theme. Interiors also highlight its association with food, seat covers are decorated with cutlery patterns.
This isn’t the first mini car to attempt food truck service. However, this is the most feature filled and well-designed effort so far. I really hope this goes from concept to reality soon, because this little guy looks like a winner in many ways – to name a couple price (any small business can afford one) and fuel efficiency.
