If you are into sports cars with metallic colors – newly unveiled Aston Martin DB11 Volante is just the one for you. The convertible roof is offered in eye-catching colors Bordeaux Red, Black Silver and Gray Silver. For its $216,495 price tag, it comes with a Mercedes AMG 4.0-liter twin-turbo 503 horsepower V8 engine and an all-new bonded aluminium structure. Even though Aston Martin had to forego the V12 engine because of weight penalty, the AMG V8 still delivers a 200 mph top-speed and jump from 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.1 seconds.
Volante in Italian means “flying” but at Aston Martin, it has a different meaning – as in removing the roof off and making it a convertible. In the case of new DB11 Volante, it is a beautifully finished fabric hood that takes just 14 seconds to lower and 16 to go up. Remotely operable with key and on the move up to 31 mph with a 31 mph headwinds. Thanks to its new roof design, it has also gained 20% more in boot capacity compared to the outgoing DB9 Volante.
There is a lot to look forward to in this car Aston Martin plans to deliver in the first quarter of 2018. Among the DB11 Volante features are the new wood or carbon fiber veneer panels on the seat backs, ultra-slim ‘light blade’ tail lights that create a bold C graphic and a striking new design of forged alloy wheels with a spilt-spoke layout. It performs equally well regardless of weather conditions and geography – Aston tested this in Death Valley and the Arctic without the top, and the result was the same.
According to Top Gear, a V12 version is in the works and probably show up in showrooms towards the end of next year. Visit Top Gear to read their in-depth review of the DB11 Volante.
