I would pay to watch Elon Musk’s reaction to this Bubblegum Pink-dipped Tesla Model X. The car belongs to a guy in Chicago who goes by the name VerityZooms on the Tesla Motors Club. He even gave his girl a name – Verity. Interesting bit is his admission that he is known as “The Pink Guy” amongst his “friends, colleagues, and enemies.”
He gives a detailed description of the entire process from placing the order to spending a lifetime researching how to get this baby pink painted. In the end decided to dip instead of painting or getting it wrapped. For dipping he found his partners in crime Jameson and Matt at ChicagoDipped. If you are wondering what a dip is – it’s a process applying peelable, rubberized paint to a vehicle. You can rewrap fancy wheels even every few months because they peel off easily. Paint is also good for things like waxing, sanding and buffing – means luxury cars also come into play.
VerityZooms is a smart guy who is into engineering. Before he spent extra monies on a car that cost $100k to improve its looks, he asked around lot of questions. Spent sleepless nights worrying over aftermarket wheels, interior finishes and even about a mount for his mobile HAM kit.
Main reason he went with the dip is it doesn’t affect the original paint. When it is time for him to go for a new set of wheels, no need to worry about the re-sale value. This gives car enthusiasts with a fondness for funky colors a safe way to go for any color without worry.
As for accessories, Verity is wearing a set of matte black aftermarket wheels to go with her Bubblegum Pink. There were few more hiccups along the way including one with his bank and another during colorway-choosing process. More than anything else you have to admire his courage to go with pink. He admitted he always have things in pink – be it at home, work or in person.
What’s your opinion about the Bubblegum Pink Tesla?
