Artist Rainier Weber Designs Unique Gold-Plated AK47 Chair From Real Rifles

AK47 Chair Gold

I have to say Austrian artist Rainier Weber is an enthusiastic reader. He comprehends everything he reads and put things he learns from reading into good use. Some time back he read a book about the designer and inventor of the famous/infamous AK-47 assault rifle, Michail Kalashnikov. While reading this book he had the proverbial light-bulb moment – to design and create a one-of-a-kind chair from AK47s. That is because Rainier is a “Make Love, Not War” kind of guy, his own slogan for this AK47 Chair collection is “Art not War”.

The AK47 Chair Gold version feature formally still in service 4 stb AK47s of fixed stock and 2 sub AK47s from folding stock. The guns are used as front chair legs and arm rests. The chair frameworks and disassembled guns were gold-plated and then assembled back together. The plush chair upholstery are covered in red, gold and black hand woven fabrics imported from London and Venice.

The 22 karat gold-plated chairs arrive with three additional gold-plated accessories – an AK47 Falcon seat, an original Russian steel helmet and a cartridge belt with original AK47 cartridges. The AK47 Chair Gold is a limited edition and each piece is numbered and singed with “Art not War” slogan. Buying this son of a gun gold chair will set you back €120,000 (about $127,000). Rainier Weber also designed a AK47 Chair in Chrome, priced €80,000 (about $85,000). To order or to get more information email him – [email protected]ak47chair.at.
