Who is to say only Bentley can design and create a line of high-end furniture and accessories for a home collection? Since there is no monopoly about it, American automaker Ford has entered that particular field with a collection inspired by their new Ford GT. Unveiled at the Salon del Mobile design show at Milan, creations of the collection include a sail boat, a guitar and a foosball table. Collection also include traditional items such as furniture and lighting. To design a special lighting installation named “FAVILLA, to Every Light a Voice,” they have teamed up with Salon del Mobile and Milan-based architect Attilio Stocchi.
The accessories collection also include a floating lamp, a wi-fi speaker and two interpretations for lounge furniture. Ford notes, each item because of similar design philosophy used coordinates well to create a complete portfolio. Unlike Bentley, Ford is short with details on individual items, we have to look at images and form our own thoughts on them. However, there is no mistake where the design inspiration come from – every item on the collection has the same angular design of new Ford GT. Most of the collection also seems to have some parts made from lightweight carbon fiber, just like the car.
“We have an incredible amount of talent in our global studios. The public rarely sees more than 10 per cent of the work that happens in our studios. This is the perfect opportunity to share some of the creativity within our team while also offering our designers an opportunity to go beyond the everyday work and get exposure to new ideas that will inspire for future Ford designs,” said Moray Callum, vice president, Design, Ford Motor Company.
Ford Design Lounge at Salone del Mobile is in the Fiera Milano exhibition hall, Pavilion 13. “FAVILLA, to Every Light a Voice,” is open to the public from 11:00-23:00 CET in Piazza San Fedele.
