Marmi in Italian means marbles, you know the world famous Italian marbles. Milan-based design firm MM Company recently designed an exclusive capsule collection for Scandola Marmi, an Italian luxury household and lifestyle accessory brand. And one of the pieces in the new collection is Scandola Marmi Lego Vase. It looks just like a Lego block, just not something for kids to play with. Carved from a block of exquisite Italian marble, the vase comes with holes for the flowers.
The vase measures 100H x 180L x 80W mm. There are three versions of the vase made from different marbles. The first, carved from reddish brown Rosso Levanto marble costs just $702. Next up is a vessel made from famous Tuscan Calacatta white marble, which will set you back $729. The most expensive of the collection is sculptured from precious black Portoro marble, this will burn a worthy $1,220 hole in your pocketbook.
Now a little history of Verona-based Scandola Marmi – the company was founded in 1964 by master marble cutter Bruno Scandola (he is not from New Jersey). Their beautiful marble and granite work is usually handcrafted applying ancient and artisanal craftsmanship techniques. Scandola’s expertise lies in making items that highlight authentic shapes and textures. Among their creations are hanging clocks and simple serving platters made from mottled black marble.
The Scandola Marmi Lego Vase is now available at Wall Paper Store. You can also find Scandola collection at Barney’s New York.
