Something magical happening in London as you read. Last week current owners of Harry Potter’s childhood home listed it for sale. Today we got the news, the home his friend Hermione Granger grew up is listed for sale. This house is located in the northern London suburb of Heathgate. They are looking for a new owner for the first time in 60 years. In comparison, Harry’s 4 Privet Drive home ready to change hands for the third time in the last 10 years.
Hermoine’s home is a bit pricey. Owners are asking £2.4 million (about $3.1 million). And Harry’s asking price is just £475,000 ($620,000). There is no mistake that the two families were worlds apart in economic scales – Mr. and Mrs. Granger were dentists. This house is where the first scenes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part I was filmed.
As with Harry’s 4 Privet Drive home, this is too has seen a lot of renovations, but the exterior red brick wall stayed intact. The Heathgate home has a 2,490-square-foot living area that consists of six bedrooms and two bathrooms. Both front and back feature well-manicured gardens. Master bedroom has a private terrace that overlooks the backyard with mature trees.
The three storey cul-de-sac in the peaceful neighborhood also has an entrance hall, reception room, family room, guest room and a utility room (we can safely guess it is the laundry room). For transportation nearest tube station is Golders Green on Northern Line. Drive to London takes just a half hour.
Given recent history, it is a surprise that home is not a listed building. New owners are free to renovate as they please. Movie fans going to recognize the fireplace mantle where Hermione disappeared from her family photos while doing it she wiped her parent’s memory to protect them. The listing agent, Arlington Residential also like to remind everyone about the rolling meadows and woodland of the village Hermione Granger mastered her magic.
