As far as luxury travel goes, Air France is not going to let Etihad have all the attention this week with The Residence suites. French national carrier has unveiled first class ultra-luxury suites that will take to the skies this September on board their Boeing 777-300 fleet. Named “La Premiere”, Air France plans to install 76 of them on all Boeing 777’s on long-haul intercontinental and transoceanic routes.
Complete privacy is assured on suites with access restricted to only suite passengers. There is also plenty of leg room with each suite measuring 32 square-foot. Additional privacy comes with the installed fully retractable dividers and thick curtains. On decorations side suites boasts tweed-patterned fabrics and feature leather headrests adorned with airline’s winged seahorse logo.
The seat transforms into a comfortable 6.5-foot-long flat bed. In your La Premiere suite you’ll feel like being in a luxury hotel room, because pillows and bedding are provided by the luxury Sofitel hotel. Another fantastic addition to the seat is its massage function.
Giving passengers a full French cuisine experience, gourmet menus come prepared courtesy of Michelin-starred chefs such as Joel Robuchon, Regis Marcon, Guy Martin, and Michel Roth. If you are to become a regular on these flights, chances are you’ll notice that the wine list is updated every two months. To make dining 30,000 feet above a genuine luxury affair, meals are served over Bernardaud-designed porcelain china, beveled glasses, and Christofle flatware.
On the entertainment side of things, suites are fitted with 24-inch HD touchscreen displays and a collection of TV shows and movies in 12 languages available to choose from.
