India is full of vibrant colors, and these photos make it abundantly clear. Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation decided to add more color to already colorful Indian weddings by announcing their plans to offer week-long Wedding on Wheels package. From wedding vows to reception to honeymoon, all taking place aboard the Maharajas’ Express luxury train. I am sure this news was enough to send luxury wedding planners from around the world into a frenzy, especially the ones handling destination weddings category.
According to IRCTC, this unique once in a lifetime package will cost about INR 5.5 crore (approx. $150,000). This is actually a reasonable price as it includes everything from food, board and a great trip across the country for 88 passengers. The Heritage of India tour is from Mumbai to New Delhi with stopovers along the way for sightseeing at beautiful places like Ajanta, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ranthambore and Agra.
The Maharajas’ Express Train comes equipped with 14 luxury carriages with 43 guest cabins, and 20 of them are deluxe, 18 junior suites, four suites and one grand presidential suite named Navaratne. The presidential cabin is an entire carriage with two bedrooms, a living room, and modern private bathroom with a bathtub. All other suites come with attached baths.
“We are open to the idea of not only hosting grand weddings but also top-of-the-line corporate events, movie shoots, fashion events, etc. in one of the most luxurious trains in the country,” said Pinakin Morawala, spokesperson of IRCTC, west zone.
Beautifully decorated cabins feature rich tapestry, linen, upholstery, wall-to-wall carpeting, semi-precious stones and antiques. The panoramic windows are a favorite of all guests, as they offer views of beautiful scenery. Other amenities and services offered on board are LCD TV, Direct Dial Telephone, choice of twin or king-size bed, Channel music, electronic safety deposit, private bathrooms with plus toiletries, DVD players and a whole lot more. All this in addition to their well-mannered, dedicated and courteous staff that provide flawless onboard services.
An officer from IRCTC told the Times of India, “There will be the best of everything, managed by experts to make it one of the most memorable events for the bride, groom, and their families. We are finalizing the finer details and will launch these packages on demand. We are hoping it’s a huge success.”
