Hublot’s collaboration with Ferrari that spanned 3 years and 11 watches since 2012 is coming to an end. To celebrate that and the 10th anniversary of the Big Bang, Swiss watchmaker has designed two more Ferrari-themed timepieces, again partnering with the Italian automaker for design inspiration. Named Big Bang Ferrari Black Ceramic and Big Bang Ferrari Gray Ceramic, two limited editions will have their debut at the upcoming Baselworld 2015.
The Big Bang Ferrari Black Ceramic boasts Ferrari’s legendary red color while the Big Bang Ferrari Gray Ceramic pays tribute to the historic NART (North America Racing Team) uniform with its color. Both models feature Hublot’s famous 45 mm case, which in every sense of the word is huge. Its unique skeletonized dial features the famous Ferrari grille, created with a blackened crisscross mesh – through which the main plates and bridges of the movement visible.
A Ferrari-themed timepiece without its famous prancing horse would not be a Ferrari-themed timepiece. At 9 o’clock you’ll find one, an appliqued version of it. Located at 3 o’clock is a sub dial with a minute counter and the date window. The colors of hour markers and hands are matched to the main color on the strap, as such the grey ceramic gets a rhodium-plated finish and the black ceramic a red varnish.
There are plenty of Ferrari related features such as the oscillating weight that mimics the five-spoke Ferrari wheels. Another is the elongated push-buttons on the case in titanium and rubber, they resemble Ferrari pedals. The “striping” is a bread and butter feature of racing cars, they can be found on the leather straps of the watch in red or grey.
Powered by the in-house built HUB 1241 Unico movement, the automatic flyback chronograph comes with a 72 hour power reserve and a frequency of 4 Hz. Both Big Bang Ferrari Black Ceramic and Big Bang Ferrari Gray Ceramic will be limited to just 250 pieces each.
