Floyd “Money” Mayweather not only got to take home a pile of cash to the tune of $100 million he also received a special edition Hublot timepiece. The Hublot King Power WBC Full Pavé with Emeralds celebrates Mayweather’s “The Fight of the Century” win in Las Vegas. Luxury watchmaker has been one of 10-time world championship winning boxer’s main sponsors for the rumble held in Vegas and the boxing shorts he wore for the fight had Hublot name on it. Hence it is no surprise Hublot wanted to celebrate the grand win with a grand gesture.
The Hublot King Power WBC Full Pavé, a one-off watch made only for Mayweather is a 48mm gold watch studded with 248 white diamonds (2.04 karats). The gold bezel of the watch feature 48 baguette-cut Tsavorites. Its green and gold color combination is a design element borrowed from the WBC belt given to the winner. Its dial features three sub-dials at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. The date aperture is located between sub dials at 3 and 6 o’clock.
Floyd Mayweather who has a collection of luxury watches said “Everyone knows I am a big fan of luxury watches and Hublot is one of them. I am extremely grateful for their support and I look forward to adding the King Power WBC Full Pavé with Emeralds to my collection.”
In 2012 Hublot and World Boxing Council (WBC) agreed to a sponsorship deal. As part of the deal, Hublot designed and created 12 boxing themed timepieces integrating boxing with high end watchmaking. Timepieces were also unique in the sense that they featured signatures of twelve boxing greats. Over $1 million was raised when timepieces were auctioned to raise funds for charitable organizations including to start a pension fund for retired boxers worldwide.
