In 2015, Swiss watchmaker RJ-Romain Jerome celebrated Pikachu’s 20th anniversary with a $25,000 special edition. In between, they also worked with Super Mario and Pac-Man franchises for limited editions. One again RJ-Romain Jerome partnered with The Pokémon Company International, this time to celebrate the latest round of Pokémon craze with one-piece limited edition named RJ-Romain Jerome Tourbillon Pokémon. This watch is made with one very wealthy Pokémon-crazed millennial on mind, because it carries an astounding $258,000 price tag. As RJ described “the perfect alchemy between a prestigious horological complication and the emblem of the millennials.”
Befitting a pricey luxury timepiece, the Tourbillon Pokémon features among other things a very colorful dial with Pikachu taking center stage at just below 12 o’clock, an all-black 48mm case and hands. However, the highlight of the watch is the tourbillon, which also features Pikachu’s trademark “lightning bolt” as its bridge, located just above 6 o’clock. A Pikachu shaped oscillating weight can be found on the back. The hand-filled enamel dial is full of Pokémon characters in 3-D form, which gives them an animated look.
The all-black case of the RJ-Romain Jerome Pokémon watch comes paired with a black alligator strap with blue and yellow stitching, matching Pokémon logo’s colors.
