Embroidery on a watch, that’s something we haven’t heard until now. Hublot’s latest addition to its women’s line comes with a dial, bezel and strap decorated in beautiful and intricate works of embroidery in gold and silver on tulle (netting). For embroidery work of the limited edition Hublot Big Bang Broderie, Swiss watchmaker hired Birchoff, a leader in all things embroidery in Switzerland, who also works with numerous other fashion brands. Hublot describes the watch as beautiful, rebellious, sexy and glamorous.
It is not just any stitching on the dial, a skull motif is embroidered into it, an extremely difficult thing to do on such a small area. However going to all that trouble is worth every bit, because of it the Broderie is now a coveted watch with an unconventional appearance. There are several different types of material used in making the watch, including carbon fiber to which the tulle is molded and encased.
The Hublot Big Bang Broderie is offered in three styles – Steel Diamonds, Yellow Gold Diamonds and All Black Diamonds with each version limited to 200 pieces. Hours are indicated by 11 diamonds with .20 karats each. Bezel, hands and 12 o’clock depending on the version is made of steel diamonds, gold-plated or all black. The watch is powered by HUB 1110 automatic mechanical movement that provides 42 hours of power reserve.
Hublot unveiled the Big Bang Broderie at 2015 SIHH in Geneva. The ultra-feminine watch is expected to retail for around $40,000.
