Ulysse Nardin’s Dual Time Manufacture collection now has couple of new models. Introduced last year, the Dual Time series this year gained two new pieces – bold blue and warm ivory. Both timepieces are powered by in-house made Caliber UN-334 movement. What we have here is the blue dial with a 18 karat rose gold case. The biggest plus point of the watch belongs to its well-designed, easy to read dual time function. Home time can be read via the aperture at 9 o’clock, while the local (travel) time is shown on the main dial. Adjusting hour hand is made easy by its smart design, where (+) and (-) pushers are placed at 10 o’clock and 8 o’clock respectively.
The brilliant design on the dial boasts a geometric rope motif, a reminder of Ulysse Nardin’s admiration for the nautical world. The hour markers are represented by spike-styled gold indexes. Dial also feature sword-shaped gold and white hour and minute hands, a large date aperture at 2 o’clock and the small seconds subdial at 6 o’clock with a gold hand.
Silicon plays a big role in the movement with escapement (anchor, escape wheel and roller) and hairspring made from it. The self-winding movement beats at 4 Hz and feature a 48 hour power reserve. The watch is water resistant up to 30m and its sapphire crystal covered case-back offers a good view of workings of the movement. A luxurious leather strap with a folding buckle completes the ensemble. A limited edition, only 500 pieces of the Dual Time Manufacture Blue Dial are made available worldwide.
