The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong has a new partner for another of their high-tea alliances. This time around French gourmet Chocolatier Jean-Paul Hévin has teamed up with them to help celebrate the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Brazil with a Latin American-themed fancy afternoon tea. All of you, who are lucky enough to stop by at the Ritz, gets to taste the Jean-Paul Hévin Chocolate Afternoon Tea, a collection of mouthwatering sweet and savory treats at the hotel’s Café 103, from June 1 to July 31.
All the sweet treats as expected are created by French chocolatier Jean-Paul Hevin. His creations to effortlessly wake up your sweet taste buds are made from world’s best refined cocoa beans from South America. These creations are new to the menu and never presented in Hong Kong by him include a Brazilian chocolate bonbon in honour of the World Cup hosts, Peruvian biura’ chocolate macaroon, “Macae” strawberry pepper verrine, crusty chocolate tart, melt-in-your-mouth orange-favoure Madeleine pastry, the traditional French pastry La Religieuse filled with cream and topped with chocolate.
Chef Richard Long plays ying to Jean-Paul Hevin’s yang with his South American influenced savory creations. Range of savories presented to indulge in feature duck foie gras pate mini puff with Cuba cocoa nibs, smoked salmon marinated with vanilla cocoa oil on rye bread, Brazilian coffee bread sandwich with seafood and dill cream, and truffle egg mayonnaise on brown bread.
“At Cafe 103, we are very loyal to chocolate. We only use best quality chocolates for our renowned afternoon tea. Each item in this tea set is created with an element of one of the origins of chocolate- South American mind, creating a set of unique southern favors for chocoholics,” said Chef Richard Long.
For the ‘Jean-Paul Hévin Chocolate Afternoon Tea Set’, price is set at HK$318 ($40) for one and HK$538 ($70) for two on weekdays. Pricing for weekends, Father’s Day and public holidays is HK$338 ($44) for one and HK$558 ($72) for two. Afternoon tea is served with tea, coffee or signature hot chocolate, while this is included in the price, if you prefer a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne it’s an additional HK$220 or sparkling Moscato d’Ast la Spinetta will cost an extra HK$140.
