Shakespeare wrote many things in his spare time. When he coined the phrase “such is my love, to thee I so belong” I am pretty sure he wasn’t thinking about the love story between Japan and Starbucks. No matter how much other countries love Starbucks, the coffee chain churn out really special concoctions just for Japan, several times a year. A couple of days ago they unveiled two new limited editions practically unannounced, both based on a Matcha White Chocolate mix – the Matcha White Chocolate Frappuccino and the hot Matcha White Chocolate.
The Matcha White Chocolate Frappuccino has a creamy, mild bittersweet flavor. As you can see from the image, it’s a mixture of milk, white chocolate, Matcha syrup and a healthy dose of whipped cream. This one costs ¥540 (about $4.70).
The frothy Matcha White Chocolate’s ingredients include bitter green tea flavor, a fluffy foam of hot milk and white chocolate base. This is offered hot or cold in 4 different sizes priced from ¥420 to ¥540 ($3.60 to $4.70).
Starbucks Japan was so sure these drinks going to be hits among their customers, they didn’t bother to do serious advertising campaigns. Their only notable campaign was limited to hand-written notices in stores few days before the release. You will have to hurry up to enjoy these two new limited edition Japan-only drinks, though. Last day they are going to be available is December 25. After that you will have to for another 12 months enjoy these.
