Italian luxury jeweler Damiani is in the midst of the celebrating their 90th anniversary this year. They have already celebrated the occasion with special events attended by none other than Hollywood stars Sophia Loren and Sharon Stone. Jeweler also released a limited edition anniversary collection that consists of ten exquisitely designed jewelry pieces. Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong’s two-star Michelin Chef Pino Lavarra has created a special anniversary five-course dinner menu using nine of the ten pieces from the collection. When creating “The Damiani 90th Anniversary Celebration” menu, Chef Lavarra has given consideration to jeweler’s rich history and traditions.
Nine items used are the Charleston collier, Cascade bracelet, Legend bracelet, Optical earrings, Bloom necklace, Tribute bracelet, Moonshine ring, Damianissima collier and Tassel necklace. Each piece tells the story of the brand during its nine decade existence. The impressive five-course menu starts with the 1930s-inspired Cascade bracelet appetizer. Emulating bracelet’s alternating black and white diamonds, Lavarra has designed a Cured Salmon dish that include Beluga Caviar and White Snail Caviar. The Legend bracelet is designed with 1940’s World War II and military-fashion on mind, where iron was used to imitate gold. And a reference to that decade can be found in the Chickpeas Cream Sauce glazed Golden Crispy Monkfish dish.
Next up, the 1970’s inspired Bloom necklace and the corresponding Fettuccelle with Sea Scallops, Lobsters and Tomatoes dish that literally draws out the colored stones of the floral motif. The title “artistic highlight of the menu” goes to the Stewed Oxtail Served on Potato Filled with Foie Gras. Its creation is inspired by Optical earrings that pays tribute to graphic designs and pop art of the 1960’s. However, the beautiful dessert, Chocolate Ring Hazelnuts with Five Spices Sauce, is ready to give Stewed Oxtail some competition for the “artistic highlight of the menu” title. It is made in the image of 1980’s inspired mosaic Tribute bracelet that feature special hand-cut amethyst, citrine, Madera quartz and prasiolite.
“For me, this experience is about crafting culinary jewelry for the pleasure of the eyes. I want to use this opportunity to offer the greatest expression of Italian quality in terms of the finest things in life,” stated Chef Pino Lavarra.
“The Damiani 90th Anniversary Celebration” menu is priced HK$1,880 ($240) per person. It will be offered from October 15 – November 30 (except November 6-8) in Tosca at The Ritz-Carlton, Hong Kong. A special package is also available for guests interested in staying at the highest hotel in the world to enjoy the Damiani menu- the Deluxe Suite is available at HK$9,880 ($1,275) per night for two persons stay.
